For NYU Abu Dhabi students lacking the motivation to study, finding a new environment can yield fresh inspiration. With the introduction of the #SaadiyatReads campaign, students seeking a change of scene may not have to go far.
#SaadiyatReads is a campaign organized by the Tourism Development & Investment Company in support of the UAE’s Year of Reading campaign, launched by Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. In collaboration with the Saadiyat Beach Club, TDIC offers a free of charge opportunity to read in a luxurious outdoor space.
The venue has numerous comfortable couches and a spectacular view of coastal greenery, the beach and the sea. Apart from enjoying a peaceful atmosphere, readers will be offered free refreshments, such as a non-alcoholic cocktail drink and a plate of fruits.
The venue is open for everyone on weekdays from 10 a.m. till 5 p.m. Make sure to bring your own books, as the location does not have a library.
Those who prefer to stray from a prescribed program can find other places in Abu Dhabi that are conducive to a good read or study session.
With its diverse flora and fauna, Mushrif Central Park offers a beautiful, tranquil ambience. You can lie on the grass or sit on a bench with a book, though the park does get more crowded on weekends, when families come for picnics.
If by any chance you get tired of being outside, the lovely Café Arabia is right next to the park.
And if you don’t want to go far from NYUAD’s shuttle bus line, you can always get off at the Corniche stop, find one of the many benches nearby and sit down for some quality time with a book.
