Since NYU Abu Dhabi's new Saadiyat location seems straightforward enough, new arrivals on the island might be overlooking several enjoyable features of the campus, from platforms for self-expression to ways of making getting around a little less cumbersome.
Below, check out The Gazelle's recommendations for making life on Saadiyat a little easier.
Recent changes in elevator access from the ground floor to the highline through residential buildings was a cause for irritation among some of the student body. For those who find this restriction a nuisance, there is an alternative: the elevators placed in the Experimental Research Building and the NYUAD Arts Center.
They only go up until the highline, but could save you from a minute of shortness of breath.

For those looking for an impromptu concert venue out in the open, the amphitheater above the Arts Center is the perfect spot. Whether your audience consists of fellow students or just one of the campus cats, performing here will grant that sense of liberation first experienced by the ancient Greeks.
Another outlet for artistic expression can be found through the Rehearsal Studios and Music Practice Rooms in the Arts Center. The full list of available rooms, as well as the reservation form, can be accessed on the
student portal.

Throughout the first semester, many students discovered that the Academic Resource Center is the perfect spot not only to receive help for classes, but also to study, read or just relax. The screening room incorporated in the ARC can be used for a short study break or a beanbag meditation session.
Those attempting all-nighters, or plain caffeine addicts, can find their solace in the free coffee machine stashed in the corner of the ARC.
Lastly, students have recently complained about being stopped by security guards from lying on the grass. If you want to relax, or perhaps even take a nap out in the open, try the bedlike structures above the West Dining Hall.

These are just some of the treasures you can find on campus, and hopefully throughout your time here you'll discover some of your own.
