On Oct. 1, the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report for NYU Abu Dhabi was released along with NYU New York and NYU Shanghai equivalents. The report, which was released by the Office of Public Safety, presents crime and fire statistics from 2016, 2017 and 2018.

The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics requires all colleges and universities in the United States to publish an annual fire and safety report as well as campus crime and fire statistics. The statistics reflect all alleged incidents that occurred both on campus and in surrounding sidewalks and streets, which are considered public property. According to the report, "these statistics capture reports of allegations of the types listed above, including anonymous reports, that have been reported in 2018 and collated in New York City for the purpose of this report. They do not represent findings of any university investigative or judicial processes."

The report lists the risk reduction and educational programs implemented by NYUAD to reduce unhealthy and unsafe behavior on campus. These programs include Action Zone Bystander Intervention Training, the SAFE (Substance Assessment, Feedback and Evaluation) program, the Real AD Show, the Responsible Employee Training for Faculty and Staff and Consent Zone Trainings. In addition, the university requires all students to take AlcoholEdu, an online alcohol education course, and Think About It, an online sexual education course.

The report indicates that there has been an increase in the number of reports of sexual assault from 2016 to 2018. A single incident of both rape and fondling were reported in 2016. These numbers doubled in 2017, with two cases each of rape and fondling reported on campus. There appears to be an upward trend as the number of fondling cases reported on campus increased to seven for the year of 2018, whilst the number of rape cases reported on campus remained the same at two.

Alcohol-related referrals for disciplinary action have soared with only five reported cases in 2016 compared to the 35 reported in 2017. In comparison to NYUSH where there were zero reported cases of alcohol-related referrals for disciplinary action across the board for the past three years, NYUAD reported a high number of 31 cases in 2018.

All NYU campuses keep a daily crime log. The NYUNY daily crime log is published on a rolling basis online, whereas NYUAD keeps the log in the Public Safety Control Room in the East Administration Building (A4). The log includes information on the type of crime, date, time and place, but does not reveal the identity of the individuals involved. The report reveals that NYUAD experienced its first report of arson on campus in 2018.

There were no cases of murder, non-negligent homicide, involuntary manslaughter, incest, stalking, robbery, motor vehicle theft reported in NYUAD for 2018. There were also no weapons, drugs nor any alcohol-related arrests reported.
