The NYU Abu Dhabi Pre-Health Advisory Board invites first-year students interested in medicine to their Freshman 4-Year Plan Event. The event will show first-year students where to start and what courses to focus on in their academic career. Upperclassmen will also be at the event to answer any questions and share their experiences with the pre-medicine curriculum on campus. First year students who would like to know how to start preparing for medical school should come to the Salon — Campus Center room E243 — behind the Baraha on Monday, Oct. 15 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The Career Development Center will be hosting an information session with the multinational strategy consulting company, Monitor Deloitte. The session will focus on what it means to be a consultant at Monitor Deloitte and will provide further information about the firm and Deloitte Consulting overall. Students will be able to ask questions and speak to junior team members and some senior leadership of the firm to get a sense of the company and how it differs from other consulting firms. Attitude Dance Club is collaborating with Anchorage to host the first edition of Body Voices for this semester. The event will host a film screening of Paris is Burning, a documentary centered around ideas of race, sexuality, gender and identity in relation to dance and clothing. Trajal Harrell — a world-renowned dancer and choreographer — will be Skyping in from the U.S. to lead a discussion after the screening about topics such as voguing, costuming, drag culture and his personal work. As a follow up to Jinn — the choreomusical work by composer Carlos Guedes that made its world premiere at the NYUAD Arts Center on Oct. 10 — the Improvised Movement Workshop will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 16 as a way of exploring human movement and how it interacts with live sound. Kiori Kawai, a dance performance artist with a B.A. in Performing Arts from Osaka University of Arts, will lead students through the workshop to develop their improvisational movements with live music and use kinesthetic awareness to explore connection. No experience is required, so come in comfortable clothing to the Black Box Theater on Tuesday, Oct. 16 at 6:30 p.m. RSVP here.
