The various practices in Muslim communities across the world will be presented and discussed by NYUAD students, who will welcome questions from anybody interested. Attendees will be served four different cuisines. The event will be from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Arts Center (C3) majlis. Sign up here.
Cultural Dialogue: Can You See Me Now?
Cultural Dialogue will facilitate a space for NYUAD students, staff and guests to gather together and have a conversation about cultural identity and the issues and differences present in and between cultures. The discussion will be moderated by students from different cultures. Simultaneously, an art performance and a video installation by Maitha AlSuwaidi and Asma Balfaqih will be presented, both titled “Can You See Me Now?” The performance and installation will expose misconceptions about wearing an abaya and the empowerment in the choice to do so. The event will be held on Tuesday, April 24, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. RSVP here.
First Hand Initiative: Kenyan identities
On April 23, the Spiritual Life and Intercultural Education (SLICE) team will be hosting a First Hand Initiative regarding Kenyan Identities in Diversity, followed by dinner.
