Imagine Science Film Festival
The Imagine Science Film Festival is happening from Thursday, Mar. 8 to Saturday Mar. 10 at NYU Abu Dhabi’s Arts Center. There will be an opening with the feature documentary Jane, referring to the British primatologist and anthropologist Jane Goodall. The documentary
illustrates an “atypical romance between a woman, a man, a child, and a family of chimps. … One of the most striking storylines comes from Goodall observing Flo become a new mother and using that behavior as a model for her own transition into motherhood.”
The festival’s
purpose is to “break down interdisciplinary boundaries and inspire new directions for creativity, innovation, and reflection,” by providing the event-goers with screenings of various groundbreaking documentaries, intellectually stimulating scientific fictions and experimental films from the UAE and the Gulf. The event will be 25 percent discount for the NYU community with the code COMMUNITY2018, while students will be able to purchase free tickets with the code STUDENT2018.
Walk Unified with NYUAD
Over 100 NYUAD students and community members have signed up as a part of Team NYUAD to show their full support for the Special Olympics games that are happening soon in Abu Dhabi. The walk takes place at Umm Al Emarat park on Mar. 9, where thousands of volunteers will walk together to show their spirit for the event and promote a healthy lifestyle through exercise. NYUAD members will be wearing purple NYU shirts to exhibit school spirit and solidarity with the athletes and other members of the community.
Barzakh Festival is Back
The second festival of world music is happening on Feb. 28 and Mar. 1, at 7:30 p.m. The event will be taking place at the NYUAD Arts Center, where five different bands, including Batida, RAM and The Ex + Fendika will be
bringing “diverse cultural streams.”
