New Constitution Restructures the Student Government
With a draft of the new constitution coming out on Mar. 4 to be voted upon by the student body, the executive board of the Student Government announced some of the changes it will entail. The new constitution will result in a number of changes concerning the structure of the Student Government to involve more representatives.
In order to establish a better relationship with the academic departments, the Student Government is planning on electing four academic representatives for each division. To better plan night events and events on the highline, a programming board will take part of the new structure of Student Government.
Following a fall in the number of participations in the General Assembly, the bi-weekly meetings will most likely be reduced to a minimum of two per semester. The General Assembly will only have the power to amend the constitution, impeach executive board members and vote for outward-facing resolutions. Such resolutions would affect more than just the NYU Abu Dhabi community.
Certain positions in the Student Government will also be removed. The Officer of External Affairs and the Officer of Student Activities will be replaced by the Executive Board as a whole, while the Global Vice-President’s role will fall to the President.
Bus Line Reaches the Louvre
The Executive Board of the Student Government has announced the approval of a project to create transportation for students to the Louvre. A 13-Seater shuttle will now be provided on Fridays and Saturdays. It will depart campus at 3:30 PM to reach St. Regis, then the Louvre. The shuttle will depart the Louvre at 5:30 PM, again passing through St. Regis on its way back to campus.
The current time proposal will be considered a trial and was decided following a student Facebook poll. Meanwhile, it is expected that the operation of this bus line will be finalized next semester.
Top List on the Suggestion Board
As the Suggestion Board in the Baraha has been operating for weeks, different suggestions have been mentioned on it. This week, the Executive Board members took a picture of the board and discussed the different ideas in their meeting. It seems that students are mostly hoping for more activities and events to connect the community.
