On Sept. 30, the Career Development Center hosted the largest graduate school fair in the UAE, with more than 30 graduate schools attending. This event marks NYU Abu Dhabi’s fourth annual Graduate School Weekend.

Several universities including University of Oxford, ETH Zurich, HEC Paris and Harvard University were present. Representatives of each university participated in panel discussions where they provided tips on personal statement writing. Afterwards, students were given the chance to talk one-on-one with graduate school representatives at the fair.

The launch of Eventime, an app designed by NYU Abu Dhabi student Tomasz Bachosz, Class of 2019, took place on Sept. 26. The app is designed to help students keep track of events happening on campus. It allows students to participate in official and unofficial NYUAD events. Students can also create their own events in the app.

The app was conceived due to the absence of a university-wide event calendar. Bachosz shared his aspirations for the app on the Facebook group NYUAD Student Life: “[It is] just something I thought could help students on our campus to be more on track with the community or simply post small announcements...If it serves our campus community well I plan to rewrite it, maybe even add more functions and spread it outside campus (maybe it will become a UAE thing to integrate expats and other communities?)”

NYUAD Student Portal made a similar announcement regarding the new app on Sept. 27. It is now available for download on Android and iOS.

Attitude Dance Club hosted a Just Dance Competition on Saturday, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Students were able to show off their dance moves in the Campus West Dining Hall.

Jacinta Hu won the competition, beating Raitis Pekuss, Kyler Meehan and Nandini Kochar in the finals. The winner won a giftcard to YAS Mall.

“At Attitude we started thinking of dance-related activities that were innovative and fun to do. When developing an artistic event, it's crucial to evaluate the arts ecosystem. We realized that this year on campus, at The Arts Center, in cultural fairs around town, a lot of the work has to do with movement and technology. So we came up the idea of using an already existing platform, Just Dance, and opening up a tournament for students of all experiences and backgrounds with dance [to] come together,” wrote Daniel Rey, Class of 2020 and Officer of Outreach and Communication for Attitude Dance.
